Description

Class Title: Learn Fabric Weaving - Tumbling Block with Tina van Roggen

Duration: Full Day Class

Description: Come learn how to do fabric weaving. We will create a small Tumbling Block Weave that can then be used later in a small quilted wall hanging, placemat, tote bag and more. This class involves using a rotary cutter to cut fabric strips which are ironed and then woven in a triaxial weave. Color placement will cause a tumbling block pattern to emerge. We will also discuss other weaving patterns and possible uses for weaves. No sewing is involved during the class.

Class Supply List:
- Full box of pins, preferably with flat heads. These will probably be bent when you are done.
- Rotary cutter, mat, ruler
- 3 fat quarters or quarter yard cuts - dark, medium, light. (you may want to have extra if you will need borders or other fabrics to incorporate your weave into something)
- Lunch

Instructor will provide:
- White foam core board, with guide lines already on it
- Pellon SF101 light-weight fusible interfacing
- various tools that can be used to weave
- 3/4" bias tape maker
- narrow blue painter's tape
- handout with instructions
- I will have fat quarters available if you don't have time to shop

At the end of the class you can purchase any or none of the items the instructor provides if you decide you enjoy fabric weaving.
