Description

Class Title: Binding Basics with Lynn Wheatley

Duration: 1/2 Day Class

Description: This is a techniques class to understand binding options and master the skills for binding your quilt. Many samples will be reviewed and optional bindings for those samples will be discussed. Be sure to join me for some great fun as we explore the finishing touch of binding!

All instructions for each type of binding you will create will be organized for you so that when you arrive at class, we will be ready to sew!

If students have a project that is ready for binding, they are encouraged to bring it to class to discuss their options.

In class you will learn:
- Proper size and construction of the binding strips.
- How to create Bias Binding and when to use it.
- Scrappy bindings – how to create so you don’t have strip joints fall on the corners.
- Traditional binding with square mitered corners and the ladder stitch (invisible) to hand stitch your binding to backing.
- Odd angle bindings
- Faux Piping AKA two color binding.
- 2 methods for Machine binding your quilts.
- ⅛” binding for Miniature

There is a required kit (cost $25, payable to Instructor in class, cash preferred) that includes all instructions, quilted sandwiches
and pre-cut binding fabric for you to create:
1 - Traditional binding complete, 4 corners, joined and hand stitched to back.
   1 - Odd Angle Binding
1 - Faux Piped Binding (AKA two Color)
2 - Methods of Machine Bindings
   1 - 1/8” binding for Miniatures

not sure, bring the feet you have for your machine. If you have questions about feet, email Lynn.
